Ashley Elizabeth Tamburri was 16 when she was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor that took her life on June 24, 1999.

Ashley’s life goal during the nine months of her illness focused on ensuring that her life and her death would somehow benefit others.  Through unwavering perseverance, she taught everyone around her that living with cancer did not have to be a terrible experience.

"At first I was angry, and then I was sad and then I went back to being angry again. But I've come to accept that I have cancer. And if I die, I want to do something good so that I wíll feel like I've accomplíshed something, even after I'm gone. I'd sort of like to leave something behind"
